Question

Index markers?

Hello,

I have a self-published author wanting me to record his short book (less than 10,000 words). He'd like it all in one file, but has asked if there's a way to index it so he can skip to any chapter. I've never seen the ordinary markers we use show up on any "regular" media player, so I'm guessing they won't help . . . anybody know if there's a way to make this happen? (If not in Audition - anywhere else?)

Thanks!

Audition doesn't do anything like this natively, I'm afraid. The most popular format currently that allows indexing is m4b, which you can read about here: What is M4B? What Opens a M4B? File Format List from WhatIs.com

You can record and edit your book in Audition, but you'll need to find some software that will convert a wav file (that's what you should originate the book in) into the m4b, and let you add the appropriate indexing. You'll be looking at something like this: https://onlinehelp.avs4you.com/avs-audio-converter/Features/AudioBook/M4BAudioBook.aspx
