iPad as Custom Remote

Hi all,

 

Wondering if folks have found a nice solution for using an iPad as a remote/custom shortcuts solution? Surely it is possible, and developers have created such apps, but wondering if folks here have any experience to share.

My experience of using an iPad as a remote control system wasn't good. Not because of anything technical, but simply because you had to avert your eyes every time you touched it to locate the correct spot, and that was extremely distracting - to the point where it simply wasn't worth doing. If you have a box with tactile controls, it's another matter; they are much easier to use.
