Is there a “paste to fit” option in Audtion?

I‘ve been doing basic editing of an audiobook in ocenaudio, and now, for a number of reasons, would prefer to use Audition. However, i haven‘t been able to find a comparable function to ocen’s “paste to fit” command. (I copy five secs of clean room tone to the clipboard, and then as I select gaps with noise or mouth sounds between words, my shortcut command replaces the selection with only what’s needed from the clipboard.) It’s been fast and convenient. I naively assumed this would have been found in all DAWs, but haven’t found it in Audition. Am I missing something, perhaps obvious?

You have five clipboards in Audition, and a mix-paste command. Nothing to stop you putting room tone in any clipboard of your choice, and if you make a selection of what you need replacing, you get quite a number of options with Mix Paste; basically it will take what it needs from your clipboard choice and insert it according to what you've selected:

If you make a selection, then you'll only get the selected part filled. If you don't make a selection, then the entire clipboard will be pasted to wherever the CTI is. And of course, because you have five clipboards, you can put a different tone selection in each one if you want, for a bit of variation.

So it doesn't really need a 'paste to fit' option specifically - all pastes into a selection will only fill the selection.
