Is there any way to edit the audio on a video, without separating the two?

I need to edit the audio on a few short clips - just basic things like loudness matching and noise reduction with no change to the file length. Is there anyway to do this to the video file rather than extracting the audio and saving at a separate new audio? I'd rather avoid the faff of having to re-attach the audio to the video.

    There's no software that I'm aware of that can operate like that, I'm afraid. It's inherent in the nature of the signals that they have to be isolated from each other in order for any operations at all to be carried out on just one of them.

    There's no software that I'm aware of that can operate like that, I'm afraid. It's inherent in the nature of the signals that they have to be isolated from each other in order for any operations at all to be carried out on just one of them.

      You can do some audio adjustments within Premiere but, as Steve says, even there the audio has to be stripped from the video file and reassembled after editing.
