isolate the additional and unwanted sounds

Question

I have three recordings, let's call them

Recording A

Recording B

Recording C

all three recordings have some "additional" and unwanted sounds in them, is there a way in Audition to compare all three recordings(Recording A, Recording B and Recording C) and delete everything that is not the same?? (ie. to isolate the "additional" and unwanted sounds, and save that as a separate audio track. Lets call that "Noises"track)

So I can then use that Noises track to subtract from other recordings I may make (until I figure out what is making the sounds).

any help would be appreciated.

Unless the three recordings are sample-identical, then no. And even if they were, you'd still have a problem because you don't have a 'clean' track as a reference, and there's no software on earth that can differentiate between a wanted signal and a random noise. If it's statistical noise you can, but that's a completely different situation.

The closest you'll get to any sort of solution to this will be time-consuming. You can teach Audition to learn the profile of a specific sound as a sound model, and use that model to remove every instance of it that is identical to the model - but even to get that to work, you need a good capture of the noise in isolation. And you'd have to do that repeatedly for every different noise you've got.

In principle this is the same as trying to cut out distortion - without a clean reference, you can't identify what's actually 'correct', so you can't do it. And if you had that clean reference, why would you want to do it anyway?

Personally I blame CSI for misleading people - considerably - as to what's actually possible with audio processing...
