Jittery playback in audition

I've been recording in Adobe Audition for years. Suddenly it's recording jittery audio in the middle of a project.  Re-starting the session helps, but I have to do that multiple times just to finish a 60 second commercial.  Help!

We don't know whether this is on a Mac or a PC. We have no idea of what 'jittery audio' is without at least an example file. We have no idea which version of Audition you are using, or any other information about sound devices, or anything. We don't know whether you are recording and/or playing in Multitrack or Waveform view - they behave completely differently.

 

I think you're going to have to provide a lot more information...
