Question

Just launched Audition and many of my preferences were different

Maybe the preferences had reverted to Audition default, but they weren't the ones I'd been using for several years. Zoom factor, time display, HUD display, temp file cache locations, recent files... these and perhaps more had changed since I last used Audition yesterday. Audio Hardware was retained, though.

This is Audition CS6. What would cause that?

You didn't by any chance accidentally have the shift key pressed when you started Audition, did you? That would automatically clear your existing preferences folder out and replace it with the default 'vanilla' set. Other than that, there's no obvious reason for this to happen, no. I thought that possibly an access violation might cause this, but I think that's more likely to result in a crash, rather than a change of preferences.

Hmmm... I don't BELIEVE I'd held the shift key (but that's good to know). But, even though I find it odd that only SOME of prefs had changed, I keep a backup copy of preferences, keyboard shortcuts and Favorites.

Thanks, Steve.
