key stroke to jump the play head back?

When working on an edit seam, I see a ghost of where the play head was

while sampling through.  I have a feeling there is a key stroke that will jump

the play head back there?  Anyone?  Thanks. see image

    Do you want this to happen automatically when you stop playback? If so you need to turn on the option 'Return Playhead to Start Position on Stop' by right clicking on the Play button and selecting it from the drop down menu.

    Most, if not all of the playback options you could ever require are available in Edit>Preferences>Playback. But if you right-click on the playback button on the transport panel, you'll also find an option there called 'Return Playhead to Start Position on Stop' which, if you put a check against it, will do exactly what you want, I think...

    The closest you'll get to a keystroke option is Alt+Left Arrow, which will return the playhead to the phantom position it started from, but only if the track is actually playing. If you use this whilst it's stopped, or hit it twice, you'll end up back at the start of the file.

      ok let's try that out.

      oh now the program is frozen.

      I thought that was a thing of the past.

      ok that only works if there is no edit in the area between the ghost and the playhead.

      Since the objective is to hear the edit over and over, this strategy does not succeed.

      I'm afraid that I don't quite understand your workflow. What sort of 'edit' is there between the ghost and the playhead that you are trying to listen to repeatedly?
