Lapel mics multi-tracks dividing audio ?

Hi there guys.

I had 5 actors with 5 different lapel mics.

Recorded them all, now I got .wav files with multi tracks in it.

When open in audition, I see them with multi tracks.

Is there an easy way to low or mute the volume on one track to avoid overlapping ?

What I mean is, for example two actors talking together with two different mics, is there an easy way in audition to get the right audio from each track in the multi session?

Complicated ...

Do you mean mute the non speaking actors? You could try gating the channels, although spill will usually make that less than ideal.

Mostly you’ll have to either do it manually with envelopes or deletion or look into automixer plugins (Dugan).

Trevor is correct. Is it, for instance, the first part of Track 1 and the last part of Track 3 that show as lower level that you want to remove or reduce in level? Normally if the actors were in a studio space you wouldn't want to remove all of the 'off mic' dialogue since that adds to the atmosphere of the room the actors are acting in. So you might just need to reduce the level of the unwanted bits rather than remove all together. Also you would probably want to pan the different actors mics around the stereo image to make it sound like they were in the room together. In which case the breakthrough from one mic to the other would be essential to hold the whole recorded scene together IMHO.
