"Link Media" option does not automatically adjust track length

I have an audio file that has several cuts in it (91) where I am replacing the clip at that cut with another clip. 

When I replace it using "link media" feature (Not dynamic linking - and this is all in Audition),  with a clip of the same length, it works fine. If it is shorter or longer, it will not automatically adjust the clips around the cuts to accomodate for the size of the new clip. 

 

Does anyone have any insights on how to easily replace multiple instances of one clip with another clip of a different size?

I am using the most current version of Audition: 23.3.0.5s as of the date of this posting.

    There is no easy way to do this, I'm afraid. What your session file has in it is information about where any given section of your original file is placed in the session, and this goes for all the files you used. Nowhere in there is any information about what to do if a replacement file is of a different size - it just has the original information. Most importantly, no single clip knows anything about the ones surrounding it - they are all effectively separate entities. The only thing that gets detected by the software about clip positions is when they crash into each other - which generally invokes crossfade handles. But at that point it's entirely up to you to decide what to do - the software can't make those decisions for you.

     

    The other thing is that if Audition did what you wanted, it could easily put anything you had in sync with the first track, but on another track, immediately out of sync - potential chaos. Adobe would like this to be your fault, not theirs!
