Question

Linked files gone silent!?

Hello

Running Audition CC for OSX.

I was working on an .sesx with multiple files that I was inserting into the timeline using markers.

The program crashed.

Now all of the source files that were inserted into the timeline are all silent... Like, no sound at all. The only thing that they seemed to retain is their length and name.

These files were not backed up anywhere, so this is very concerning.

Has anyone dealt with such a thing? Becuase if they are truly gone forever I do not think that I can ever reliably use this program again.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

How did you record the files in the first place? In Multitrack, Audition records direct to disk, and a software crash wouldn't touch them, even if it did your session file in. On the face of it, all you should need to do is relink them.

I thought so as well.

Files were from a while ago - recorded with a Zoom recorder.

So how exactly did you proceed? If you transferred the files to the machine, they will still be where they were transferred to - unless your crash was as a result of a hard disk fault, and that seems pretty unlikely.
