LOST SESSION!

Just started working on AUDITION yesterday and promptly LOST my hour-long narration session. I set autosave in advance to save every 2 minutes, but I cannot find that file. I saved it to my desktop but it is nowhere to be found. So I checked in the Documents folder and the file is there, but when I open it, it's just 27 seconds not the entire hour. I'm assuming I did something wrong when saving the file. Wracking my brain here. Help, please.

When you auto-save a session, the only thing you are doing is saving the session file itself - none of the audio. Saving a session to the desktop is a risky business, and far from ideal. If you create a new session, it should be in a folder of its own, that you created, preferably on the root drive, or a separate drive just for the purpose, with copies of the related audio in the same folder. What you should do then is a Save All, and not rely on backed-up session files in a vulnerable location alone.

All it takes is one of those 'keep your desktop clean' apps, and it will wipe out your saved file if it's on the desktop. You might try looking for it in the Recycle bin, I suppose, but really what you should do is modify your working practice so that this won't happen.
