Lost session file

I have a multitrack session file which is shoping up with totally blank files. It represents weeks of work so pretty desperate to get it back. Cant seem to find any version of this session with the files playable in backup. Help! 

 

I started using Audition in the fall and have found it excellent when it works but pretty darn glitchy.  Working on a brand new mac.

We don't have enough information here, I'm afraid. If you have a session file that opens and just puts placeholders up on the screen, what is missing is the audio files themselves - you have to locate them and relink them. With a Mac running Catalina, one place you could run into difficulties with this would be if they were stored remotely from the machine you are working on. This would be because Apple chose to 'harden the security' on remote drives with the introduction of this version. I believe that from Adobe's point of view this is being worked on, but it affects a number of apps including Audition, and the fix has to work for all of them. Not exactly fair to blame that on Adobe...

 

Anyway, if this is the case, then the interim fix is to move the audio files into a folder on your internal drive before attempting to relink them - that should work fine.

 

But as I said, we don't know if that's your issue or not - we'd need some more details before we could go any further.

Thank you for this. I ended up redoing the whole session. I took the Mac back to the Apple folks. They said Audition was drawing way too much of the memory on the machine and could be causing the glitches. Suggested I speak with Adobe. Did that. Adobe techs helped me reinstall and change some settings. 

still experiencing lots of problems with this program:
voice ducking works about 50 per cent of time.

have to redo edits frequently as they haven't saved properly

warped sound at start of some clips

 

It's an expensive program to be so problematic. Will likely finish th8s project then look for something else.

 

but I so appreciate you and the genetleman below offering to assist.
