Loud cracks in audio even when not recording.

I am a beginner and I am trying to record my paino and have all the set up correct and can record sound, however there are loud cracks. And they are happening even when I am not playing any notes on the piano. Could it be the cord I am recording with? Any help please! Attached photo is a recording of silence.

Doesn't look as though Audition is directly the problem, because it's a continuous recording. How exactly do you have the piano connected to the computer? And how is the piano powered? There are actually quite a few possibilities here, including the cord you are connecting it with.

From my piano in the phone/output, I have a 6mm to 3mm jack chord and a headphone/mic splitter attached to that. I power the piano through batteries(it is a cheaper piano but still a yamaha).

What input is the cord connected to on the computer? If it's connected to a mic input you will likely overload that considerably - which is what might be happening. On most computers with mic sockets it's generally possible to switch them to a Line setting, which is considerably less sensitive (and indeed more like a headphone level). Or. it could still be a dodgy lead. Or even both. Do you have another lead you could try? (Battery powering the keyboard is good - that removes another possibility altogether.)
