I see in Adobe Audition i can import .m4r files... How can I export in .m4r? Under the Format in Export, File,  the Apple Audio Toolkit lists it as a exportable format, but doesn't show the preset to do it. Help! (Adobe Audition CC 2017)

It looks like Adobe Audition CC 2017 doesn't provide a direct preset for exporting to .m4r (Apple's ringtone format), even though it allows importing it. However, you can still export your file in a compatible format and then manually change it to .m4r. Here's how:

Method 1: Export as AAC and Rename

Export your file as AAC (.m4a):

    • Go to File > Export > File...
    • Choose AAC (Advanced Audio Codec) (.m4a) under "Format".
    • Select your desired bitrate and quality settings.
    • Click OK to export.

    Rename the file extension:

    • Navigate to the exported file location.
    • Change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r (just rename it).
    • Confirm the change if prompted.

Method 2: Use iTunes (Optional for Ringtones)

If you're creating a ringtone, you might need to adjust the file length (usually under 40 seconds). Then:

    1. Import the .m4a file into iTunes.
    2. Right-click and select Get Info > Options, then adjust the start and stop time (if needed).
    3. Right-click the file and choose Create AAC Version—this will generate a shorter version.
    4. Locate the new file, rename it to .m4r, and import it back into iTunes for syncing with an iPhone.

Let me know if you need more help.

I have the same question, but I have figure out a way to export .m4r files. You should select "Apple Audio Tool Box" format, then change format settings to "File type: Apple MPEG-4 Audio, Format: Apple lossless." After doing that, you will get an .m4a file. Simply change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r. Hooray, you've got an .m4r ringtonee.

This version of Adobe Audition comes with a boost in performance, lots of little things to make your life easier, and loads of new features. Now, Audition is a 64-bit application for both Windows and Mac OS, with considerably improved performance.
