[MacOS] Saving changes to a file sets 'Date Created' to current instead of only 'Date Modified'

Forgive me if this has been discussed somewhere else or it's a setting I'm messing, but when changing an audio file in MacOS and then saving it (not creating something completely new), it changes both the 'Date Modified' and 'Date Created' dates to the current time, instead of just the Modified Date.

I feel like this is either a bug, because other programs retain the Creation date, or it's a setting I'm missing in Preferences.

Can someone assist?
