Marker shortcuts during recording

Question

Hi,I'm trying to streamline my workflow for recording presentations that are then later chopped up into individual slides. As of right now the academic, recording their presentation, is asked to hit a shortcut to put a cue marker down whenever they begin or end a slide. They are also asked to clap when they make a mistake. This allows us to convert all the markers to ranges and export each slide separately. Then we skim each slide to take out the mistakes. This isn't ideal as I don't feel clapping is an elegant solution and some academics are reluctant to comply, so my question is; Can I place range markers at the beginning and ending of slides DURING RECORDING as well as use the cue marker exclusively for slip ups? Open to other solutions to this problem also if you've got them. Thanks.

It's possible to make cue ranges whilst continuing to record, but you have to do it in the Marker panel. Even if you don't get the first marker right at the start, you can drag it back there. You can then select the pair of markers you want as a range from the cue list, and use the merge button to convert them to a range - all without stopping recording.

As an alternative to clapping (which certainly does like conceptually the wrong thing to do!) try making a mini 'clapperboard' out of two bits of wood joined with a hinge at the end. If you screw it to whatever they are using as a lectern, then all they have to do is pick up the other bit and snap it down. Sort-of like this:
