Markers: export audio to separate files in Multitrack Audition CC 2018

I am currently using Adobe Audition CC 2018.

I am working in Multitrack with a six hour music project using most of the tracks.

I would like to export this session out to separate audio files, using markers.

the problem is, that the EXPORT AUDIO OF SELECTED RANGE MARKERS TO SEPARATE FILES is grayed out.

I have tried everything but nothing seems to make it available to use.

the help section only talks about using this in the WAVEFORM editor, I couldn't find anything about using it in the Multitrack editor.

I can make it work in WAVEFORM mode, but i would like to do it in the Multitrack editor where all of my tracks are located.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks

Clyde

You can do what you want by Selecting each song by dragging the mouse from the start to end of each song.and placing a Marker Range on the Multitrack Timeline. And then you can Mixdown/Export each song separately by selecting it and using Mixdown/Export Time Selection. You don't even have to mark each song to use Mix Time Selection but having Markers makes it easier to jump between each song and select them to Mixdown. Once they are in the Marker list you can just click on the Marker in the list to jump to and select just that song.

Thanks, but i guess what i am trying to do can't be done in Multitrack.

Think of what i have as a 6 hour live recording of a group singing songs with something on mutitracks tracks, Vocals, keys, bass......ect....

and now from the Mutitrack view, I would like to mark each song and export it as a separate song in the mutitrack view.

the way it is right now, is that you have 6 hours of music with no way to go from song to song.

I know that i can do this by exporting the complete session out, then opening it back up in the waveform view, then marking each song and then sending it out as a separate file, but instead of doing all of that, one world think that you could do it straight from the mutitrack view.

Thanks for the reply, I knew there had to be some sort of way to do it.

I wish you could do them all at one time, I have 82 songs to export, but this will work for now.

You have to bear in mind here that markers in Waveform view and markers in Multitrack view are completely different animals and bear no relationship to each other - save that they both mark something.

In Waveform view, they relate to specific times on a file, and if you add or subtract time before them, then their position relative to the audio, and duration, remains the same, but the start and finish times will be updated. But they stick with that file. In multitrack, markers only relate to the timeline; they have no relationship with clips or files whatsoever. This makes sense, as you can slide clips about all over the place and alter their relationship with each other - any accessible clip markers would be all over the place. That said, if you look carefully at clips with waveform view markers in them, you'll see those marker positions as dotted lines, and they will move with the clip.

The only way that I'm aware of to export specific files only between markers is to solo just the track you want to export, select the marker range and use File>Export>Multitrack Mixdown>Time Selection. Also you can use this method for mixed sections as well - it's just a matter of making the right selection to export before using the Export command.
