Merging mono clips in Audition creates an empty merged clip

Hi, I have recorded some mono audio (voice) but somehow merging does not work. I have succesfully used merging earlier, but now when I have two clips (adjacent and on the same track) and Merge them the merged track is empty / no audio anymore.

Does anyone know how I can solve this and make Merge work again?

The first thing to try is starting a new session, putting a couple of clips into it, and trying again. If it works then, you have a corrupted session file. If it still doesn't work, you have probably got a corrupted installation. I wondered whether the mixer settings might alter this, but they don't appear to - it works fine wherever the clips are routed to. Anyway try this first...

Thank you Steve, I just found out that this is indeed a case of a corrupted file. This was a bit unexpected, because everything (including saving, reopening and all other editing functions) appeared to still work flawlessly. Thank you again for your solution!
