Mic Input Level Clipping Issue

I'm having an issue with Adobe Audition/Focusrite solo, that I'm hoping someone might a have solution for. I have a VO setup where I'm using a Focusrite solo interface, Audition as my DAW, and a Roswell K87 condenser mic. When I monitor or record to Audition, the input signal is automatically being clipped/limited at -3db regardless of how high I run the gain up on the solo. 0db +1db, etc. This happens with any mic I use. I also notice If I disconnect the solo, and the computer’s internal mic is on, the signal can run higher than 0db without being clipped, so I'm thinking it may be a setting/issue in Audition, but I can't figure it out. Has anyone else ever encountered this?

Hello GuySpot, I have an update. Belive it or not I experienced the same issue today. and I found the root cause, so disregard my last message. it was merely an input device level adjustment needed in the computer sound settings. Sorry about that, I hope that helps you.

Hi TDad65 - did you ever resovle this issue?  I too us a focusrite solo, the meter on the Focusrite Control app show a reading above -3db; but still Audition clips the levels.  It's really annoying.

Hi GuySpot,

I was able to resolve my problem. It turned out to be a channel mapping issue in the Adobe Audition app. I was recording a single mono track, and I had to  map  the Focusrite mic channel -2, to track 1 of Audition and that solved it. Hope that helps.
