Question

Mic not working (Audio Hardware)

Hi all, I've tried in vain to set up a new microphone, routing it through a MOTU M2 interface. No luck in Audition (or Audacity), though it works fine on Zoom and GarageBand. I'm using Mac OS 10.15.4

I have selected M2 as the input, both on Audio Hardware and Audio Channel Mapping in Preferences. Screenshots of my settings attached. Any thoughts?

Things you need to do in order to record anything on Audition; on the track you want to record on, select the mic as an input, and then click on the R button. Only then, when you press record, will you record anything. This is what it looks like on this laptop:

If it still doesn't work, then you may be a victim of Apple's 'hardened security' which by default turns any mics you have firmly off until you attend to it.

But even if you get all this to work, you won't hear any playback because you appear to have no valid playback device!
