Microphone audio levels

Hello

Is there any way to set a max input level when recording in Adobe Audition? Something like what some cameras have to record for example at max -12dB even if I scream right into the mic?

Thank you!

You can only observe it using Audition's meters - you can't control it. Audition records faithfully what it is sent from your sound device, and that is where you have to adjust the mic levels. If you right-click on the meters, you'll get an option to meter the input signal before recording, and you need to have the gain in your mic preamp or sound device set so that the loudest sound you can make registers at least 5-10dB lower than the 0dB peak on them. If you are recording live, it's rather more normal to set the level lower than this, and allow at least 12dB of headroom.
