Missing Audio in Mix Down & Multi-track playback

I'm having the same issue in both 24.63 & 25 versions of Audition: During playing back of the multi-track, certain sections of the audio are "missing" or don't play.  But when I roll the playhead back and play again, the audio is there.  In the mix down, the same sections of audio are also missing.

The referenced wav files are all intact, no playback issues.

I had originally edited the multi-track audiodrama in 24.63 and thought perhaps that was the issue and started using 25 but the issue remains and it's the same "missing" sections in both versions.

I'm going to try clearing the cache and restarting to see if that resolves the issue but could really use some guidance from an expert who may know what's causing this issue.

Are these tracks with effects on them?

Hello Steve,

No effects. And I also discovered that it's only the vocal track not the ancient background sound track.

I'm editing an audiodrama so there's 2-3 vocal tracks and a 4th track used for sfx and music.

I opened a previous episode and didn't experience the same problem.

The only thing I can really tell you is what happens when you play back a session. Basically, your files are streamed direct from the hard drive they're stored on. If, for any reason, there's a delay in finding a file, then it won't get streamed. If whatever is causing the delay (and there are any number of possible causes) goes away, then it will stream fine again.

Generally the way to achieve this is to have your files on a disc that the OS can't get at - fast USB SSD drives do pretty well. But for something as simple as your streaming playback, you shouldn't have had any issues, so I'm a bit suspicious about your machine. Are we talking about a Mac or a PC?

On the other hand again, if a previous session plays fine, then the state of the session file may play a part - you'd need SuiteSpot to look at that - hopefully he'll pick up the thread...
