Mix Paste Does Not Act Like It Does in Adobe Audition 3.0

Well, here we are five years on and Mix Paste still doesn't work in the latest release the same way it did in Adobe Audition 3.0.

I record an hour-long radio program in segments.  Each segment is a WAV file.  The final product is 58 minutes long and it is a WAV file called BUSINESS.WAV.  To create BUSINESS.WAV, I record, say, six minutes of segment #1, SELECT ALL, COPY, switch to BUSINESS.WAV, highlight the last few seconds of BUSINESS.WAV, and MIX PASTE segment #1 into BUSINESS.WAV.  Under 3.0 this works perfectly.  Under the latest release, the material being pasted is truncated at the point where the BUSINESS.WAV ends.  Under 3.0 this truncation does not occur.  The MIX PASTE occurs and is extended, as necessary to ensure all the material ends up in BUSINESS.WAV.

    If all your segments are separately recorded and saved as .wav files then you can add them all together in the one file by using File/Open Append.

    However Mix Paste seems to work OK here with the latest version of Audition. But you do have to select Insert in the Mix Paste panel rather than Mix to get it to work as you require. Otherwise as you point out it only pastes into the selected area (which won't normally be long enough for the added segment.

    But IMHO this is how it should work logically. It was always a pain when doing a Mix Past in AA3 where Audition mixed in the whole piece of copied audio rather than just the highlighted part. Because when editing to synced pictures it could throw the sync of the whole file completely out.
