MIXDOWN Lag

Is this situation resolved yet or are you still facing these UI delays?

What else is running on the machine at the time? In order for any mixdown to take place, the machine needs to check that the resources are available to perform it and grab hold of them first. One unfortunate factor in this is the OS; Microsoft run so much completely unnecessary crap in the background and that's enough to slow down the start of almost anything.

We used to have recommendations about how to speed up and optimise your machine for audio, but since the introduction of much faster processors, this hasn't been so much of an issue - maybe we should think about revisiting that to see what's possible, if anything.

But in the same breath, I have to say that if you try to start your mixdown with the HD light already flashing, then at a bare minimum you've got a conflict with whatever's already accessing it - and that's usually the OS for some sort of (almost certainly unnecessary) housekeeping task.

It might be helpful if you provided details of your hardware and OS as well as which version of Audition you are running
