Question

Move audio and angle-pan at the same time?

I'm currently working on a multi-channel project in Adobe Audition that involves intricate angle panning. However, I've encountered a challenge when trying to rearrange audio files, as the pan settings are attached to the timeline rather than the audio. This makes it difficult to move clips around without disrupting the panning. Is there a way to lock the angle pan to an audio file or any other workaround that would allow for easier clip rearrangement without affecting the pan settings?

Use the track automation pan control - the blue line on the track, rather than the track control pan knob. If you move a track with volume or pan applied that way, it moves with the track. It's also worth noting that if you apply clip effects rather than track effects, they will move with the track too.

Thank you for the advice! But I already use that. The issue is that the envelopes (all lines except gain) appear underneath the audio instead of within the track, just like when you control it via the track control knob. It might be worth noting that I'm doing a 5.1 mix. I read one note on Adobe Help that said: On mono and 5.1 surround tracks, clips lack pan envelopes. Which sounds like I'm screwed? Very unfortunate if that's the case because it means we're really limited when using pan in a 5.1 project.

If that is indeed the case, then I'm afraid you are.  The only alternative I can think of is that you adjust the 5.1 channel volume settings to end up with each one where you want it. You should be able to do that with either clips or the whole track, using the Amplitude effect. Yes it's far from ideal, but it's the only thing I can think of at present.
