Question

Muffled Playback

I have a new computer with Windows 11 and the latest version of Adobe Audition and the playback sound is muffled.  Is there any way this can be fixed OR is it a Windows issue?  I have updated the latest drives, but that did not help.

We need way more information before we could even guess at what's happening here!

What are you playing your sound back through, and how do you know it was okay in the first place?

I swtched from a 6 year old laptop to a brand new desk top computer.  I listen with small logitech speakers or though headphones. Does this answer your question?  I appreciate any insight you can give me.  Thanks!

Answers one question after a fashion, but not my last one.

There are any number of reasons for you to think that the playback sound is muffled. Assuming that you didn't create a muffled sound in Audition in the first place, then none of the reasons will be to do with it - it plays back exactly what's in the file. If the sound seems to be muffled on both headphones and your speakers, then it rather points at something the interface is doing. If that is the built-in one, then you have to check everything to do with controlling it carefully. Sometimes switching in sound 'enhancements' can make everything sound very strange.

Does it do this with all files? If you make a microphone recording, does it affect this too?
