Multi-channel file into multiple tracks

Hello,

please excuse if this has been answered somewhere else already; I did not find it.

Is there a way to put the channels (in my case: 4 to 5) of a single broadcast wave source file

into seperate tracks of a multitrack project

without splitting them up into mono files first?

(It just seems inelegant to me, because it would mean doubling my amount of source files.)

Thanks so much in advance!

Apparently I'm not very smart – I just tried it out without meaning to and it works out of the box: a multi-channel file dragged into a multitrack project distributes each channel onto a separate track.

Sorry for bothering.

No. That's the only way I'm' afraid. Anyway don't worry about extra files as it just means that you have an extra backup of the contents.
