Multi track not detecting channels from Mixer

A few years back dominicp50156988 posted a question similar to my own, however they had a Peavey 10 Mixer and I have an Alan & Heath ZED 10FX.

Trouble that I'm having is that Adobe recognizes my mixer as USB AUDIO CODEC, fine but I cannot select more than two channels (both of which produce the same sounds) even though there are four mono channels and two stereo channels.

I have not found anything in the manual  nor online stating that only two channels can be recorded like it was for dominicp50156988 and their Peavey 10.

If anyone knows if this is the case or if I have not pushed a wee button somewhere I truly appreciate your help.

Unfortunately for you, I have found the relevant information - on their website:

"Configurable USB stereo audio in/out"

This indicates very clearly that the audio interface is two-channel only.

What it actually says is that it has 'USB audio flexibility' so you can select which outputs from the mixer you send to your USB stereo output. But you can't send more than two channels, I'm afraid.

will i have the same limitations with a ZED 22FX?

From the web page about this mixer on the Allen and Heath site:

It comes with configurable USB audio in/out making it easy to capture stereo recordings.

I have deliberately bolded the key word; the output can only be "stereo", i.e. two channels into Audition.  The only way to record your six channels to separate tracks is if your mixer has six discrete outputs or its USB output can carry six discrete signals.  I'm afraid yours doesn't.

As to the fact that you are apparently seeing the same signal on both output channels, this is caused by having them all panned centrally.  If you change each of these controls (to suit how you want the sound recorded) any Pan control set hard left should record only to channel 1, any to hard right only to channel 2.  Any setting between these two extremes will put some of the signal also on the other channel.  So an input panned right at about the 9 o'clock position will be louder on the left channel than the right, and so on.
