Multitrack and Waveform views do not match

I am trying to edit out a telephone that is ringing in the background of the vocals of a podcast.  I was using the sound remover in the waveform and it was working fine.  But suddenly the waveform view doesn't match the same location as the multitrack.  In the multitrack view I am at location 12.53.8 but the waveform view is at the beginning of the podcast.  Could someone explain how this happened and what I need to do to fix it?  Thanks

    I can't explain how it happened, because I wasn't watching! And because of that, I can only make a suggestion that might fix it...

     

    In Edit>Preferences>Multitrack Clips, the first option says 'Synchronise Clips with Waveform Editor'. I'd guess that you don't have a check in it. Try putting one in, and see if you get on better.
