Multitrack playback problem

Hi,

what will be the best workflow for large multitrack session mix (>30 Tracks, each 2h long, wav 48kHz). The performance goes extremly down. Any mouse action is delayed by a few seconds (for example when I change the position of the cursor in the timeline).

I did following improvements:

- group & route instruments to a few effect channels

- removal of high performance effects on individual tracks

Where is the bottle neck? Can hardware upgrade help (what whould bring most improvement? RAM, Processor, SSD?) or can help some special settings in the environment (Audition is located on an SSD, wave datas are located on HDD 7200rpm, media cache is located on another SSD)?

I use a quite fast I7 Desktop, WIN10, 16GB Ram and a fast NVIDIA Ti1000 graphic card.

Thanx for any help.

Erich

In Preferences/General try changing the option 'Use hardware acceleration for drawing' to see if that will make any difference to Audition's screen redraw speed.

The other thing to do with large sessions - especially if you have effects applied anywhere - is to use track pre-rendering. There's a thread with some information here: How to enable pre-rendering to apply effects to track?
