Multitrack Session Audio Is Totally Distorted - Sounds Like Digital Beeps

Hi Adobe community,

I'm trying to figure out what happened to my audio. I created a multitrack session and was monitoring my input from a single microphone. Sounded great during recording. Saved the multitrack session, and came back to it a week later. Now, whenever I play anything, it sounds like the random beeps an angry robot would make, with no trace of the original audio. The waveform is blocky and computerized, and it seems anything related to my original audio, except perhaps the amplitude and spacing of the waveform, is completely gone. I have no idea how this happened. Attaching a link to the file so you can see it.

Would appreciate any insight you can give, thanks.

I know this is three years later but i am desperate at this point.  I have the exact same issue, tracked it just over a week ago and now when playing back original wave files or the project in audition i have a digital beeping randomly.  I did not store anything cloud base, all media is local to the hard drive/laptop i tracked on.  please tell me there was a resolution to this issue! Thanks

Doesn't sound like the same problem from the way you've descibed it - please start another thread about yours describing the problem exactly and giving some hardware information as well.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Would really appreciate some help.

Not that it helps you I'm afraid but nobody else seems to be suffering from this problem. Have you tried making any other recordings since and if so did the files playback OK immediately after recording? Do other audio files imported into Audition from elsewhere playback OK?

    Hi ryclark,

Thanks for the reply. I have made other recordings since this time and they playback fine right after recording. My project folder resides within Google Drive, and when I open the project on another computer, the audio is destroyed. Then, when I go back to the original computer, it is also destroyed there. My current theory is that Google Drive is mutilating my WAV files upon upload to Google Drive, then replacing the original file with the one from the cloud. Can't get anywhere with Google though, so I'm feeling pretty stuck at the moment.

We need to know a lot more about your system to answer this I'm afraid. Are you on a Mac or a PC with which OS? Which version of Audition are you using and where were you saving your audio to?

Does the audio sound the same when one of your files from the session is played back in the Waveform view or is it only happening with that particular session in Multitrack?

    Thanks ryclark.

I am on an iMac 2017 running up to date macOS High Sierra and Audition on whatever 11.x release was current a few weeks ago. The .wav source files feeding the multitrack session sound garbled whether they are in multitrack view or waveform view, yes, and the whole multitrack session folder was saved locally on my mac's HDD.
