Mute input monitor during playback

When I’m recording a large ensemble is there a way to automatically mute the input monitor while playing back what is already recorded?

Obviously the mics are live to my speakers or headphones and it seems too much hassle to individually disable each track before pressing play!

Alternatively I’m open to suggestions for a different way of working.

Thanks in advance!

Try going to Preferences/Multitrack and enabling Enable Smart Monitoring. See if that helps or hinders. It has caused some people problems when it was set on by default in one release of Audition. So you will probably find that it is off at present.

Thanks, just had a quick look and that seems to work - confused me at first as I was still selecting the ‘I’ button to monitor the input which seemed to override the smart monitor function!

Hello. Just so I'm clear. With 'Enable Smart Monitoring' enabled, that means I DO NOT have to press monitor input on the multitrack?

    Thanks 😊
