Muting the input while recording.

I was wondering if there was a way to mute input while recording in case I need to cough or someone needs to talk to me. I podcast over the internet and our tracks need to line up so I can't stop and start. I just need a keyboard shortcut to make sure that audition is still "running/recording" but nothing is getting through.

That can only be done externally to Audition on your audio interface or mixer I'm afraid in the analogue domain. Anything that interrupts the digital audio flow into Audition will also tend to stop the recording. However it is easy enough to silence the offending track when editing after the recording without upsetting the timing.
