My export files are partially missing audio

Weird.

An export of wav or mp3 of a simple sound file will start off silent and eventually become audible somewhere down the line...

super annoying.

I've tried 'trashing' the Application Settings.xml and App Prefs.xml files and get no change in the weirdness.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

Can I reset Audition to it's original state somehow?

Whatever is causing this, it won't have anything to do with application preferences or a media cache. There is nothing in those that would account for anything like this at all!

What we need to know is exactly what you're doing before you get to the export stage. Also, when you say 'eventually' does it fade in, or suddenly just start? If this is from a multitrack session, a screen-grab might help. Also, if it's from a multitrack session, if you highlight just the parts you want to export and use the 'time selection only' option, does the same thing happen? If you do a mixdown of the track first before saving it, is this the same?

Without some more detailed explanation, we won't get very far, I'm afraid.

The sound that is missing suddenly starts in again after the silent section. There is a little 'crackling' at the top of the silent section, too.

I have tried i/o markers (time selected clips) and I've previously been using the export 'entire session' and 'selected clips' options which has always been my typical process. It's one file (21 seconds) on one track in the multitrack that I'm attempting to export in this case. Have not tried it on one of my much bigger (90 minute film) re-recording mix sessions due to the time it would eat up in my studio.

Since my posting, as a test, I removed the plugins I had inserted on the master track (Waves De-Esser and IK Multimedia Black 76 compressor) and exported again with slightly different results. The exported file still had the beginning cut off (silent for a few seconds) before suddenly returning to normal, but more of the audio on the track became audible - ie: the silent part was shorter at the beginning.

Because of that result, I'm starting to believe the problem might be the IK Multimedia plugin(s) - I've never had a problem using the Waves De-Esser previously and have somewhat recently added the Black 76 comp plug.

It may be worth mentioning that I also used the waveform editor to process the file and also applied a 'pass' of the Black 76 compressor there. When I return to the multitrack to further process and export the audio is all there and plays back correctly. The problem is with the exported file(s) only.

Not the whole folder, only the Application Settings.xml and App Prefs.xml files so far but will try the whole folder next as mentioned.

Yes, I get the same results from both of those methods, too.

Will be clearing the entire cache after posting this...
