New Audition CC install seems to have noise gate

When I record my voice, the level ramps up in a straight line. I don't know how else to describe this. I cuts off the beginnings of hard consonant sounds where there is a no sound until the T or D is expressed.. Can I get rid of this? I don't mind some background noise as a tradeoff for natural-sounding vocals.

I can't find where I have any effects applied. This occurs in both waveform and multitrack editing.

I did not get the same result with the microphone in the body of the laptop.

OK. But that still begs the question of what external mic are you using and how does it's output get into your laptop and thus Audition?

I tested with two different mics and with Premiere CC as well as Audition. Soundcard issue, maybe?

What is your mic and how is it connected into your computer and Audition? What audio driver are you using? Audition can't alter the audio signal coming in for recording, it just receives whatever the system audio driver is sending it. So if anything is effecting it it must be somewhere in the audio interface and it's software drivers. Your subject title 'New Audition CC install seems to have noise gate' seems to imply that you have used Audition in a previous version without any problems.
