No sound in playback mode

Hey everyone,

So I was going all crazy in karaoke mode, having a preset done to my voice adding reverb, noice cancellation etc in real-time when the sound suddenly stopped working.

Allow me to elaborate: With a preset of reverb, noice cancellation and pitch, I was recording myself sing and adding music to it afterwards.

This was going fine, and I was almost done when the sound suddenly stopped working. I tried to do playbacks on my own voice but got nothing. This had previously been working up to that point.

The only time I get this to work now is if I use virtual audio cable(which I use to get good voice on skype, discord etc)'s additional program "Audio Repeater". As long this is set to repeating what I am saying, I get to hear the sounds I recorded on adobe audio CC.

So... what can I do to not have to have the audio repeater running and still be able to hear my voice in playback like I just had? :S I didn't change any settings at all.

Also, sorry for the messy explanation.

    When you hit play does the cursor move or just stay put?

    If the latter, this will be because Audition has lot access to your sound card--my guess would be that VSC has probably taken control and not released it.  Normally the advice is to go to Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware re-select the proper driver and hardware.  However, in your case, besides this you may need to actually disable VSC's access to your computer sound interface.

    Yes, the cursor does move. So at first, I thought I had muted something and checked everywhere. I didn't find anywhere it was muted, and it looked like a driver failure when I tried to playback with and without having audio repeat(on my microphone) enabled - only when it was active, I heard sound from playback as well. As if the audio repeat enabled the channels in adobe audition to work properly. But I can't sing with my voice repeating everything in the audio repeater D:

    So I tried to uninstall the soundcard driver and install it again. It didn't work either... :/
