Non destructive effects in multitrack!

I want to apply effects in multitrack so it's non destructive but I see that every tutorial shows that things like reverse only show up in the waveform view. Is there a way to use the reverse effect in multitrack view? Or any other non destructive way since I had to delete the audio and reimport it again.

No you can't use reverse in Multitrack. If you want to use a reversed file, the sensible thing to do is to treat it as a separate source. So, make a copy of the original and reverse the copy, and that's the one you use in your session.

How do I make a copy of the original file in adobe audition? It looks like it's unable to duplicate the file within the program itself. Is there a setting I'm missing? Or do you mean duplicate the actual file outside of the project? If I have to do this for everytime I want to do this that would be a very slow workflow. Thank you for your answer though!

I think you need to look at Audition's menus a little harder! This is extremely simple to do. Whilst your file is open go to Edit>Copy to New. Save the file with a different name. You're done. If you really want to be quick at it, then whilst the file is open, use the shortcut for the same thing - Alt+Shift+C.
