Not Applying EQ To Selected Audio?

Long-time AA 3.0 user struggling with CC 2018 version. I highlighted a section of audio (in Waveform view), opened 20 band Graphic EQ, found the correct frequencies to lower using the audition feature, and clicked "Apply." But nothing happened!

Do I have to do something extra or differently (from 3.0) to make the EQ actually apply to the audio I have highlighted/selected?

Thanks.

I can guess what's happening. Yes the selection is too small in that, by default, edits are set to crossfade by a few milliseconds to smooth the edit. Couldn't quite see how long you have selected but I expect that it is short enough to be affected by the edit crossfade. This is set in Audition's Preferences/Data page. You could turn it off but it might then give further problems with other edits.

However there are now much better methods for doing what you are trying to do in this instance. Having selected the mouth noise use the HUD (Head Up Display shown near the top of the Waveform over the top of your selected portion) to reduce the level off the noise. Alternatively it the sound is very short try the Auto Heal effect from the Favorites menu.

Should work in exactly the same way as in AA3. When you say 'nothing happened' when you clicked Apply did the effects panel close Ok? If so the results must have been written into the audio file. Works OK here.

Well, it seems to apply only a small percentage of the effect? If that makes any sense. Here's what's happening. I have a very small section of audio (a mouth noise) selected. I open the Graphic EQ tool and run the looped Preview. I slide down frequencies until the noise is barely audible, then stop the Preview and click Apply. Yes, the effect window closes, AND you can see that SOME amount of change is applying. But when you listen to the result, it still sounds really loud. It is NOTHING at all like what I heard in the Preview of the effect.

Here is a quick video I made of this: Untitled

Hopefully that will make it clear what's happening.

Is it possible that the selection is too small or something? Though if that were true, NOTHING would happen, I imagine.
