Question

Noticing pops on a multitrack mixdown only when it's put on a CD

I've created and exported 12 multitrack mixdowns, put them on a CD, and only one has random pops and crackles. These pops aren't heard in Audition or as an exported WAV on my computer, just when it's put to a disc. And to add more confusion, I'm pretty sure it sounded fine on a test CD a week ago (which I threw out a few days ago)

Format: WAVE PCM

Sample Type: Source sample rate, Source channels, 16-bit

New Sample Type: 44100 Hz stereo, 16-bit

Format Settings: Wave uncompressed, 16-bit integer

If everything's okay in Audition, then it sounds as though you've got a dodgy CD - or possibly a dodgy CD writer. Neither is exactly unknown...

If you get a choice, try using a lower writing speed.

I've burned about 50 CDs full of other files with no issues, it's just this one file/song. I've tried about 6 blank CDs in 2 different styles, from max speed burning, to 24x, to16x, and it doesn't matter if it's the only file/song on the CD or not.

The exported WAV file sounds great on my computer, but for some reason it's picking up the same ear-splitting pops when it's burned to a CD. I've tried WAV and different MP3 rates and it's the same issue. It's the last file for this project so it's extremely frustrating.

Do these pops always appear in the same place?
