Piano note plays at every action

Every time I do an action in Auditon when recording multitrack (i.e. mute a track, press the space bar to play, come back to Audition after being in another program) a piano note plays. This is not the 'ding' from Windows when there is an error or 'Alt' has been pressed. It honestly sounds a lot like a piano. Has anyone come across this before?

I think this was my issue. I set up a Control Surface for a Mackie console (since I am multitrack recording from an X32) when trying to learn Audition. When I removed the control the piano noises have stopped. Thanks for the help!

I don't have my controller set up at the moment but your error has something to do with this setup:

The Midi output device needs to be set correctly, not to the Wavetable synth.

There was a report several years ago of this happening. Several suggestions were made, but the one that made most sense was that somehow, keystrokes had been mapped internally to the sound device - this isn't quite the same thing as Windows sounds. Which version of Audition is this happening with?
