Playback head not syncing with waveform in editor

Hi - haven't been here for a while, quick one.

Over the last few weeks I've noticed my iMac has started loosing sync of the playback head to the audio playing depending on how zoomed in I am. So it'll look like it's playing a quiet section for example when it's actually playing something away from the playback head. I change zoom position and sometimes it then gets it right.

Easiest explanation is this super quick video. It's a transition in a dance mix so quite obvious if you look at the playback head shifts. The second half is correct playback the first half is incorrect/the problem.

Anyone else had this? I'm on Audition CC build 11.1.0.184 running on an iMac Retina OS High Sierra 10.13.5, 5k, 27' late 2014. 4GHz, Intel core i7, 32 GM memory 1600 DDR3 with graphics card: AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4096 MB card. Apart from not the fastest response on a big screen Audtion has been fine until High Sierra came along.

Have you tried updating the video driver?

Hi Steve - thanks so much for your thoughts. MMmm, I thought they all updated normally as part of the app updates... I'm just running on the iMac not bootcamped or anything. Any idea how I check which driver is running? Had a quick look online and can't easily see any mac drivers for 10.13 for my graphics card....? Interesting to be looking at the card/hardware side of things rather than Audition.

Well, it's like you said - it was fine until High Sierra came along... Where else do you think I should start looking?

I don't run Macs, but in general when an OS update happens, drivers for proprietary devices aren't touched at all - even if they need to be, as it's simply not the OS provider's responsibility. Even if they've caused a driver that was working fine not to do so any more; so the buck passes, in your case, to AMD. Or perhaps not. I can't find any specific information about this issue either - so who knows?

The other thing you should check, of course, is that your version of Audition is up to date. I don't know if the version numbers run parallel on macs and PCs, but the one I'm running here is 11.1.1.3, which seems to be later than yours...

Additional bits. Also this only seems to happen when I've been editing parts of the waveform before and it's irrelevant if the file is an MP3 or .wav, format seems to make no difference. Other sound programmes (Reaper/Ableton etc) seem ok.
