Podcast Template: Change default sample rate?

I am new to Audition and need help...

CONTEXT: I am recording a podcast with a Zoom H6 with 3 xlr microphones. I will use the H6 as an audio interface most of the time, but sometimes I will have the audio files saved on the SD card and then imported into Audition. I will be recording the podcast with a video camera as well so I want to record the audio through the H6 at 48Hz.

PROBLEM: I started a new Multitrack session using the 'podcast' template and added the additional mono audio tracks that I need. The default sample rate for the 'podcast' template is 44Hz and when you start a session there is no option to change the sample rate. I have attempted to import 48Hz audio files, but I obviously receive the error message that says that the sample rates do not match.

QUESTION: How do I change the sample rate in the 'podcast' template?

Once I change the sample rate, I want to save the session as a template so that I can use this new custom template every time I have a new episode. The custom template I would default to include the additional mono tracks as well as the sample rate at 48Hz. Please help, Thanks!

I only suggested doing it that way because the OP already has everything that's apparently required in it, and just needed to change the rate.

It's a relatively quick and easy fix to alter the sample rate, so I thought that it was probably the way to go. Yes, ideally ditch the damn template altogether and start from scratch, but hey, that's what was asked for...

    We're not big fans of the podcast template - it's caused quite a few problems, especially for beginners.

    But to do what you want to specifically, I think the easiest way is a two-step process. First, open the existing template and make all the changes you want to it, without actually importing any files, and then save it using Save As so that you can change its name to something appropriate. Yes, your changes are going to be saved as a 44.1k session...

    Then close Audition and navigate to the session file folder, locate the correct template (you may find several files with them in, and you need to locate the one you're actually using) and open it using Wordpad, or better, XML Notepad.

    Typically the address would be C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\Audition\12.0

    In XML Notepad, you'll end up with something like this:

    And you will notice that I've selected the line you need to change from 44100 to 48000. Do this, save the file and you're done. Next time you start a new session with your template, it will start at 48k.

    In Wordpad, you can still find the entry to alter - it's on line 4 or 5, depending on how you've got the wraparound set. Just alter the numbers there and save it - the result will be the same.

      Surely it would just be easier to start from scratch with a new 48kHz session, set it up as required and save that as a new template for future use. As Steve says a lot of what is incorporated into the 'Podcast' template can easily make the whole podcast end up sounding much worse that it should IMHO. There are a lot of effects applied and overdone that should be completely unnecessary with any decently recorded audio.

        Thanks! Is there some reference online that shows what exactly is included in the podcast template? I'd ideally like to create my own from scratch, but would be great to see what features are used in the podcast template so I could pick and choose what I want to include in mine...
