Premiere to Audition 16-bit help

Hi,

I'm trying to use dynamic link from Premiere Pro to Audition to add some Foley. My Audition settings are 48000 Hz 32-bit mixing, and Premiere Pro sequence settings are 48000 Hz 16-bit (which is where I think the problem is occurring). Once in Audition, the files that already exist are 24-bit, which I'm completely okay with, but when I record new foley files in audition, it records in 16-bit.

Is there a way to get around this?

I can't seem to convert Premiere Pro to 24-bit. So there must be a way to tell Audition to record the new files inside Audition at 24-bit (doesn't have to be 32).

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as I'm very new to Audition!

Although Audition can open and play 24bit audio files it's native bit depth is 32 bit Float. So you should be able to record normally at that bit depth. That is providing, of course, your recording source is capable of at least 24 bit. How are you recording into Audition, on what OS and what audio interface?

I'm Mac El Capitan 10.11.6 and I'm using a Scarlett 2i2 interface. Audition settings are on 32 bit Float. I tried opening another blank project and recorded something, and it recorded at 32 bit float. The only time it records 16-bit is when I'm recording foley/ADR to a dynamic link project from Premiere Pro, so it must have something to do with how the tracks default out of Premiere Pro. I tried adding a new track once it was in Audition, but it still records at 16-bit.

I'm attaching a picture.

It appears the project is set to 16 bit, but I'm not sure how to change that.

As ryclark says, Audition works internally at 32 bit Float but you should be able to set your input and output to whatever standard you want. If your Premiere files are 48kHz 16 bit (very common for video) then I'd set Audition and your Focusrite interface to the same setting.

This is where I'm less sure because I'm a Windows rather than Apple user--but I strongly suspect you have to go to the Focusrite control screen and set the interface to operate at 48/16 there rather than hoping Audition can override the interface settings.
