Problem with Audition 1.5

Greetings!  I have used Audition 1.5 for over 15 years without a problem -- until now. I can record with no issues. But when I play a file, it only plays for about two seconds and then stops. I have closed and re-launched the program. I have re-booted my computer. Nothing has fixed the problem. Help!
