Problem with the volume in audition

Hello Guys!!! It's my first time using audition and I'm having some technical problems. For some reason, I'm not able to increase/decrease the volume of the audio. The pan thing is not working as well.

Well, you've given us absolutely no clues as to what you're doing - so on that basis we can't really help, I'm afraid. But if it's your first time, can I respectfully suggest that you try working though a few of the tutorial videos? These answer a lot of basic questions.
