Question

Progressive meter and playhead lagging

When I open a project, everything is fine, but as the playhead progresses over a few seconds, it starts to jump by larger time increments, same for the level meters and anything involving a meter (compression, EQ, etc.).  It's so bad I can't actually see anything going by for editing purposes.

Playback audio is fine, no lagging or glitching.  It's just the display and metering.

Computer is wicked powerful--things were working just fine like yesterday.  However I have noticed this major task manager drain for Adobe CEF helper that is extreme.  When I try to kill it in TM nothing happens.

Causation or correlation?  Video card?  HELP!  And thank you!  JP

Have you checked to see if there's an updated video driver available?

Hey Steve!

Thank you so much for taking the time--appreciate it!  I looked under Device Manager, seems like everything is up to date, though I asked my IT people to come take a look.  Any other ideas?  THANK YOU

You can't rely on what it says in Device Manager. The only way to check for new drivers is to go to the manufacturer's website and check there. If it works at all, Device Manager thinks it's fine, when with W10 often it's been anything but. At one stage I was having to update Nvidia drivers every few weeks on the DAW upstairs.
