Question about the Deverberate plug-in

I have found that using the presets that fit my recording location, which was a small room, really does a good job of removing the echo -- I'd say at least 80 percent of it, though not of the exact percentage but it is considerable.  I think if I were an expert at this I could diminish it even more.

So, the question is, what other steps do you recommend?  I see that there are lots of options. You have to realize that I am a newbie at this and it's trial and error for me, though I have owned Cool Edit Pro for many years and it has a lot of similarities and am not going at this like someone who never worked with audio software before.

I could post on dropbox, but maybe you have some other ideas for me, before I do that.

In order to help you out we need to know what the Reverberate plugin is since it isn't part of Audition's line up of effects. Do you have a link to where you got it from so we can take a look at what it's settings can be used to adjust? Also posting a sample of the problem audio on somewhere like Dropbox or Google Drive for us to have a listen to may be helpful.

Trying to get rid of reverberation is an almost impossible task. Distinguishing between the wanted and unwanted audio of this type is extremely difficult. Software that attempts it is very complex and the results can be very variable as you have found. Usually they work quite well with percussive sounds like parts of a drum kit but run into considerable problems with speech.
