Recent Audition saved file wiped out!

This Morning I was ready to start adding effects to all my laid  out sounds in Audition only to open the file and receive the following error:

Error: Invalid plugin import settings provided.

Everything I did the day before yesterday was there except the work done yesterday. I have checked my auto-saves to see if there is any session I could recover but even the auto-saves for yesterday was not updated. I imported a Premiere Pro file to use the video as reference but even the information from there is not showing up.

Has this happened to anyone before? Is it even remotely possible to recover?

I use Audition CC 2018.

So you still have a .sesx session file for the latest edit but it refuses to open due to that error? You won't have lost any of your actual audio since everything about the multitrack view is non destructive. However it may be possible to recover your latest data from the faulty .sesx file but you will probably need our tame .sesx file guru to look at it for you. With any luck he may see this post later and reply but, since he lives on the other side of the world, it may not be an immediate reply.

Thanks a lot for the response. I started again from the the save two days back because I have a deadline and saved as a different project file. I did a test and saved the project over the faulty .sesx which gave me the same error however the saved as file opened up without any errors.

For now I'll just keep saving different versions but i'd still like a response from the .sesx file guru!

I'm afraid that he won't be able to help much unless the faulty .sesx file is available for investigation. Sesx files are saved as .xml files and as such can be opened and examined by any .xml aware software app and could possibly have been edited to to remove the faulty part. Also Audition saves log files which also might have held info on where/why Audition tripped up. Do you know what third party effects plugins you might have had in use in the faulty session?
