Question

record favourite to replace audio with 3 seconds of silence

Good morning from Spain! 😉

My question is about Auditon 2023 in windows 10.

With many recordings I have to insert 3 seconds of silence between recorded blocks within the same file. I do this while editing the files, deleting bad parts etc. So I mark the parts I want to delete and replace them with 3 seconds of silence. These parts can be short or longer. It works well with Edit->Paste->Silence. I've been doing it this way for years.

I figured it might be easier to pick up a favorite for this. So I recorded this favorite but when I apply it I get an error. Unfortunately, my Audition is in Spanish, but in English the message might say "The recorded time selection cannot be applied." It seems that Audition does not accept that I want to replace wildly different time selections with 3 seconds of silence.

Is there a way to program this step with a favorite or do I have to keep working with Alt-E-Q-S?

Thanks very much!

PS: Well this seems pretty hard to explain in another language to me, I hope I made the problem clear.

I use a keyboard shortcut. I've made Alt-I the keys that insert silence, so all I need to do is highlight what I want to replace with silence, type Alt-I, type the number of seconds I want and hit Enter.  Very fast.

If I've understood you correctly, you need to edit the line in your Favorite with the silence command in it so that in the Selection column, it says Relative, rather than either of the Absolute entries. This should mean that it will only apply to the highlighted section.

Thank you SteveG! Unfortunately that doesn't work either. If both are set to Relative, Audition simply inserts three seconds of silence anywhere in the marker. However, I want audition to replace the entire mark with three seconds of silence via the favorite.

Sorry, I cannot edit my posts, don't know how.

What I wanted to say, I want to replace a highlighted section (2 seconds or 8 or 20...) by 3 seconds of silence but using favorites. Seems to be imposible, . I remember that it worked with Auditon 3.0, or even was with Syntrillium? It doesn't work with either "absolute" or "relative".
